Everyone has had one of those days, a serious case of the clumsy acts, or just a day when everything seems to goes wrong. In any event, your wedding or engagement rings falls trough the sink drain, or you dropped a lucky earring and your cat like reflexes were just off. Whatever it is you dropped, you want it back. After a much needed fit, and a few tears, take a moment and breathe. It is possible that your treasure is still reachable.
Orsack Plumbing Company would like to help you retrieve that treasure from the bathroom or other sink drain.
Your lost item could be stuck in a ball of hair located in the P-Trap and J-Bend. Gross right? But if it means saving your valuables, you may be grateful for this opportunity. The only thing you need for this job is a bucket. There are no special tools or equipment needed.
– You are going to want to put a bucket under your sink. It’s best to turn the water off. It is not crucial to turn the water off, this is just an added safety precaution to deter the jokester from making a big mess. The bucket will catch any water that might be sitting in the pipe.
– At the J-Bend, you will need to unscrew the slip nut. This can generally be done with your own hands and doesn’t require any tools. Just a little tip – righty- tighty, lefty-loosey when screwing and unscrewing.
– Once you have unscrewed the slip nut, there is a nylon washer under it, just allow the slip nut to rest.
– Unscrew the other slip nut on the other side of the J-Bend. You will want to make sure you have your hand on the J-Bend to support it from falling once you have loosened the other slip nut.
– There is a horizontal pipe next to the J-Bend. Slide both slip nuts onto that pipe to keep it out of the way.
– Once you carefully remove the J-Bend, your lost item should be in sight.
– Clear away the hair and goop and dispose of the refuse. Retrieve your lost item!
– Attach the J-Bend back into its fitted position and slide the front slip nut in place and tighten. Slip the last slip nut and tighten.
– Remove your bucket, and flush away any water that might have been caught.
– Turn your water back on, if you chose to switch it off.
– Pat yourself on the back for a successful mission.
